Iron Frontier Command
Iron Frontier Command is a strategy game where you carve out territory, build up supply lines, and fend off waves of pressure from rival factions. It scratches the planning itch nicely — you're always juggling what to build next against what you can afford to lose, and there's a real satisfaction when a defensive layout you designed finally holds.
What I appreciate is that the game leans on decisions rather than reflexes. You set things in motion and watch how your choices play out, which makes it great for playing in the gaps of your day. The tech tree is deep enough that two players can end up with very different-looking empires.
The tutorial could be gentler, and the mid-game can drag while you wait on production. But if you like the kind of game where you sit back and plot three moves ahead, this one delivers.
